The Rots & Water lessons promote positive development of children's social and emotional competencies. They also promote children's self-image and how they interact with each other. Rots & Water lessons focus on the well-being of children and reducing or preventing aggression, inappropriate behavior, bullying and being bullied. This is done by learning social skills together with peers. Exercises and games are regularly alternated with moments of psycho-education, self-reflection and group discussions. Learning to use the Rots & Water concept gives children more insight into social situations and the impact of their own behavior. Rots (rocks) stands for being able to set your own boundaries, make independent decisions, and go your own way. Water represents communication, being able to listen, looking for solutions together, and respecting the boundaries of others. Children gradually learn to make informed decisions in social situations and develop more and more versatile behavioral alternatives.
